Nottinghamshire Social Services is a unit of Local Government employing over 8,000 staff and has a total expenditure of £80 million per year. The Department’s services are concerned with children and adults who are disabled, mentally handicapped, mentally ill, physically handicapped, deaf, blind and elderly. The Department is split into six divisions of service one of which–the children’s division-is for children’s homes, intermediate treatment, day nurseries, child minding, play groups, child abuse procedures, fostering, specialist fostering, adoption workers and various services to Juvenile Courts.
